In early 2025, Altadena and the Pacific Palisades were devastated by wildfires. These events served as a powerful reminder that wildfire is not a distant threat, but a reality that demands action.
The City of Pasadena and the One Arroyo Foundation are proud to partner on a nature-based solution to deploy goats as a first line of defense in the Arroyo Seco. Long a place of connection between land, wildlife, and community, the Arroyo now faces increasing pressure from overgrowth and fire-prone vegetation. Its natural formation acts as a corridor, allowing fire to travel quickly through the heart of Pasadena and impact communities from Hahamongna to South Pasadena.
By clearing dry brush and invasive plants, goats reduce fire fuel, restore native habitat, and help create safer, more resilient landscapes. They go where machinery cannot, working efficiently while returning nutrients to the soil.
Wildfire prevention begins with the consistent work of reducing what could fuel it. With your support, the Arroyo Goats will help turn prevention into action.
