John Onderdonk, Vice President

John Onderdonk serves as the Assistant Vice President of Facilities Operations and Services and Chief Sustainability Officer at Caltech. He holds a Masters in Corporate Environmental Management from the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at UCSB, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Economics from the University of Oregon. John is a LEED Accredited Professional in Building Design + Construction and a Certified Carbon Reduction Manager.

The Arroyo Seco has been a consistent backdrop in John’s life. As a child he grew up exploring the Lower Arroyo helping instill in him a fascination with the natural world and a strong land ethic. As an adolescent and young adult, the Arroyo became synonymous with sports for John, including competing for school and club teams, attending world-class events at the Rose Bowl and mountain biking throughout the Angeles National Forest. 

As an adult, John and his wife, Katrina, have returned to raise their two children along the Arroyo and participate in all it has to offer.
